Believe it or not, Alan Gator actually traces all the way back to 2000. At age 6, alligators were my favorite animal. I loved to draw alligators. So, I decided to make up a cartoon idea called Adventure Swamp, which was about a group of alligators that were captured from Florida, and were shipped to the Chicago Zoo. They were smarter than your average alligators. They would always use their wits to try and escape, and every time they do they go on some stupid adventure. And, the stupidest thing ever was: They would actually come back! Anyways, one of the alligators was named Alan Gator. There were other animals living in the zoo. In the bear cage, there lived a bear named Hairy. (Now, Harold) There was also a small dog that would leave his home, and would often wander to the zoo. (Dummy) The first book I made in the series was called Adventure Swamp in: A Halloween Adventure, which was completed on October 21, 2000. Of course, they weren't published, or anything. They were all just written on standard 8.5" by 11" paper, and stapled exactly three times. I created about 20 books about the show, but unfortunately most of them were thrown away, and I don't know where the other ones are. I'm to lazy to look for them, so were just going to have to live without them. I decided to stop making the books when I was about 8. The last book I ever made was called Adventure Swamp in: Summer Vacation Adventure, which was completed in August 2003. I just remember this stuff, okay?
One day in May 2006, I found a box under my bed. There was a lot of stuff in there, like my old video tapes, games, toys, and pictures of me when I was little. But best of all, I uncovered a few of my old Adventure Swamp Books. I decided to scan through them, just to bring back some old memories. And now that I look back on it, books didn't really make much sense at all. I had already been thinking of making my cartoon by then, but I never thought what it would be about. I didn't really think that Adventure Swamp would be successful as a cartoon. So, I thought to myself as I was scanning through them, "If I'm going to create my own cartoon someday, I'm going to have to make some changes along the way". And so that's what I did. I quickly grabbed a piece of paper, and a pencil, and began drawing. Little did I know that this would probably be the greatest day of my short 11 1/2 year old life. First of all, the original Alan Gator was much taller than he is now, so I decided to make him a little smaller. Secondly, the original Alan also wore a Chicago Cubs hat, that had been lost by someone, then found by Alan. So, I decided to get rid of that. Then, I decided to add some stuff to him. Originally, he didn't wear any clothes. So, I decided to give him a yellow shirt, and black shorts, in order to resemble his "Charlie Brown" like personality. But, his shirt looked a little to plain, so I just randomly decided to give the shirt red spots. And thus, Alan Gator was born on May 4, 2006.
After a while, I began to start drawing new characters for the show. The last major character created was Principal Whatsisface back in December 2007. I created a TV.com account on February 8, 2008, as Cheese1994. And on June 26, 2008, I told the world about my idea. I posted a blog that told all about Alan Gator. It received a total of 29 comments, the most comments of any blog I have ever written. Later on, I would create the Alan Gator Hurt or Heal Game on August 5, 2008, which was never really finished. So, you can now play the game in the Forums, as of April 19, 2009. And on September 3, 2008, Alan Gator's Place! was created.
On October 10, 2009, the official Youtube Channel of Alan Gator will be created. There, I will post all of my short episodes. I will also be posting them right here, on my website. The first short is set to air sometime in 2010. I might also decide on getting a Facebook sometime. Later on, I will also be sending my idea to Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network sometime between 2011-2012. The problem is I don't know what I should send in.
